Hip-hop heads, did you know that Rawkus Records was financially backed by media mogul Rupert Murdoch’s son, James Murdoch?

Established in 1996 and responsible for launching the careers of Talib Kweli and Mos Def, Rawkus Records was recognised as one of the top independent hip-hop record labels at the time.
