Lefty Gunplay, a Los Angeles-based rapper who first gained attention on Kendrick Lamar’s track ‘TV Off,’ has recently been caught up in legal woes. While in El Paso, Texas, the rapper faced multiple charges, including possession of a controlled substance, not wearing a seatbelt, and having a prohibited item in a correctional facility.

When booked on February 24, El Paso jail records show the rapper was in possession of between four grams and under 200 grams of an unnamed controlled substance. This charge alone could lead to up to two decades in prison and a $10,000 fine under Texas law, should he be found guilty.

Gunplay managed to secure his freedom by posting a $35,000 bond on the same day of his arrest. His visit to El Paso was initially to host a party and perform at Friends Sports Bar & Kitchen, but things didn’t go as planned.

Due to the arrest, Gunplay missed his El Paso gig. In a conversation with a local radio host, Patti Diaz, he hinted at a hidden side to his arrest story saying, “Later on, I’ll get into further details on what really happened, but if you know, you know.”

Despite the setback, Gunplay remains connected with his Texas fans, expressing his dedication to them. “I feel like I gotta make it up to my El Paso fans,” he said, promising to reconcile and improve the situation soon.

On top of his legal troubles, Gunplay made headlines late last year by teasing Kendrick Lamar’s fans about a potential deluxe version of the surprise album ‘GNX.’ In a discussion with Bootleg Kev, he shared insights into Lamar’s secretive music projects, indicating more collaborations in the future.

Though facing a legal hurdle, Lefty Gunplay remains optimistic about reconnecting with his fans and moving forward.
