Meek Mill’s latest social media antics have drawn laughter and ridicule as he declares his intention to buy TikTok, shortly before a potential U.S. ban on the app.

  • The rapper’s tweet “Sell tik tok to me!” set off a wave of memes and jokes targeting him.
  • A follow-up tweet by Meek Mill suggested a shift to other platforms if TikTok gets banned.
  • Social media users reacted with humorous memes and remarks, making fun of Meek’s unexpected declaration.
  • Former president, Donald Trump, meanwhile, is attempting to delay the TikTok ban through the Supreme Court.

Meek Mill, the Philadelphia rapper known for his intriguing social media presence, is once again in the spotlight. This time, he surprised followers by announcing his desire to purchase TikTok, a move met with widespread ridicule online.

The rapper took to X (formerly Twitter) on January 13, tweeting, “Sell tik tok to me!” This ambitious bid came at a time when TikTok faces potential shutdown in the U.S., driven by concerns over its parent company’s ties to the Chinese government.

Following up on his initial tweet, Meek Mill mentioned, “If they cut off tik tok we going x and FANBASE.” While these platforms may be alternatives, the internet was quick to mock his plans with a series of memes.

One meme showed Meek at JAY-Z’s Roc Nation Brunch being stared at as if he had said something outrageous. Another shared a moment from the sitcom ‘Martin,’ with the main character advising someone to “Sit your dumb ass down!”

The wave of jokes didn’t stop there. HipHopDX’s Jeremy Hecht amusingly commented on the situation, suggesting a ‘museum for Meek tweets’ would be a worthy venture.

Previously, Soulja Boy, another rapper, also expressed interest in buying TikTok. He criticized the ban and tweeted his willingness to buy the app, though TikTok’s $110 billion valuation remains beyond reach for any individual.

While some may view these declarations as impractical, the ongoing tensions surrounding TikTok are no laughing matter for others, including ex-president Donald Trump, who is appealing to the Supreme Court to prevent the app’s ban.

Meek Mill’s TikTok ambitions may have sparked laughter, but they highlight the ongoing debate about social media’s future in the U.S.
