Lupe Fiasco couldn’t contain his excitement when an early-career freestyle became a question on ‘Jeopardy!’, marking a milestone he never imagined.
On March 6, Lupe Fiasco took to Instagram to share a clip from the previous night’s episode of ‘Jeopardy!’ where his music was featured. The question asked was about a remix he did of Kanye West’s ‘Jesus Walks’, which contestant Roger Craig correctly identified as ‘Muhammad Walks’.
Lupe expressed his surprise, saying it was an achievement he hadn’t anticipated. “Mission Accomplished,” he wrote, adding, “another circle fulled.” He also paid tribute to the late Alex Trebek in his post, marking the moment with the hashtag #Jeopardized.
The reference to ‘Muhammad Walks’ harks back to a time before Lupe’s debut album when he released a mixtape called ‘Fahrenheit 1/15: The Truth is Among Us’. This mixtape featured the freestyle that now holds a special place in pop culture history.
Beyond the ‘Jeopardy!’ mention, Lupe has been on a winning streak. Recently, he earned several RIAA certifications, with ‘The Show Goes On’ going 7x platinum, making it his most successful record.
Furthermore, ‘Battle Scars’, ‘Superstar’, ‘Lasers’, ‘Kick Push’, ‘Daydreaming’, ‘Words I Never Said’, and ‘Out Of My Head’ also received new certifications, cementing his place in the music industry.
In a stride into new ventures, Lupe announced he’s working on an AI-powered radio station called ‘Endless LUP’. This innovative platform promises 24-hour Lupe Fiasco music created through AI, showcasing his continuous push to blend technology with artistry.
Lupe mentioned on Instagram that this station will only be accessible at certain times and require an FM radio. It’s yet another daring project showing his constant evolution as an artist.
Lupe Fiasco’s career continues to evolve, marked by a blend of nostalgia and futuristic innovation. His music’s appearance on ‘Jeopardy!’ is just another step in his dynamic journey.
