Big Sean’s catchy anthem almost didn’t make it out of the studio. As he crafted ‘IDFWU,’ he sought advice from some of the biggest names in music.

During a podcast chat, Sean shared how he was just having fun with producer Mustard, trying to create something inspired by a Too $hort song.

However, when he showed the track to JAY-Z and Beyoncé, their reactions were split.

Beyoncé thought the song was a tad disrespectful and suggested adding Nicki Minaj for a female’s perspective.

JAY-Z, meanwhile, understood Sean’s playful vibe and encouraged him to stick with his original idea.

JAY-Z texted Sean saying, “Every day you’re not putting that song out, you’re losing,” pushing him to release it.

Despite initial reservations, Sean released the track, which resonated with audiences and soared to nine times platinum status.

As an artist, Sean trusted his gut and the right advice, leading to a massive hit.

Big Sean’s trust in his instincts and JAY-Z’s encouragement paid off with a platinum-certified success.
