Muni Long recalled a studio session where things didn’t go as planned. She was having a tough day and found herself speaking negatively. J. Cole, who joined them, sat down but soon left after hearing the conversation. Muni reflects that she wasn’t on the same positive wavelength as him.

She explained that J. Cole didn’t judge her but simply chose to remove himself, which she now understands. When someone maintains a positive mindset, staying in negative spaces can bring them down, she noted.

Muni shared another story on TikTok from 2008 involving Drake. She missed a chance to work with him because of a jealous boyfriend. During that time, she recorded a viral guitar cover of Drake’s ‘Best I Ever Had,’ which caught his attention.

Further, in a chat with Apple Music’s Ebro Darden, Muni described how she first met Drake. They connected during his mixtape days after he heard her cover. At the time, Muni was fresh out of high school, and Drake was still known as ‘Wheelchair Jimmy’ from Degrassi.

Muni Long appreciates the lesson in maintaining positive vibes from her interaction with J. Cole.
