So check this out, Kanye West’s going through a rough patch with folks jumping ship and gigs disappearing, but rapper Consequence is totally game to pair up with the unpredictable music legend.
After a rollercoaster of a relationship, Consequence and Ye are back together and have just teased a mind-blowing new track. Consequence spilled the beans to AllHipHop.
He’s super stoked about this crazy new track produced by West, which is set to drop before the season ends.
“I’ve got the beat of the summer again,” Consequence told AllHipHop. “When my shocking single drops—and yes, Ye produced it, we’re going to have some conversations.”
We’re still in the dark about the track’s specifics, but Consequence hinted it’s classic Kanye, like the good ol’ soulful Kanye we all miss.
His last kickass album, Nice Doing Business With You, dropped in 2024. “I’m looking forward to people being able to ride out for the spring and the summer”, he told AllHipHop. Then, he dropped the lead single “Blood Stain”. With Kanye West behind the production, this explosive track was a total win for the rapper from Queens.
This unexpected collab is just another page in the long story of these two artists. Consequence, who’s Q-Tip’s cousin, made his big break in the late ’90s.
He then played a huge role in shaping West’s early solo career, even delivering a killer verse on “Spaceship” from West’s 2004 debut album The College Dropout.
Over time, Consequence became a mainstay in Ye’s G.O.O.D. Music crew, lending his voice and songwriting skills to albums Late Registration and Graduation. He’s even credited as a co-writer on several Kanye West tracks, including “Flashing Lights” and “Gone.”
Things got a little rocky in 2011 when Consequence left G.O.O.D. Music. He even called out West and labelmate Pusha T. But they patched things up after a few years and got back to creating awesome music for West’s Donda album.
Meanwhile, Consequence is also super proud of his teen son, Caiden the Crownholder, who’s making waves in the rap scene. Caiden’s recent freestyle on TikTok scored over 5 million views.
While the release date for the shocking single is still under wraps, Consequence said it’s part of a bigger summer rollout.
“I’ve never been one to kick my feet up,” he said. “It’s boots to the ground. Always has been.”
