In a surprising turn of events, NFL superstar Odell Beckham Jr. has called for the immediate release of his friend, R&B singer Chris Brown, from a UK jail. Beckham took to Instagram to voice his support, posting a picture with Brown and captioning it with an emphatic “Free Breeeezyyy.”
Brown’s incarceration follows his recent arrest in Manchester, just after his arrival in the UK via private jet. Despite his legal hurdles, he’s in the UK for his upcoming Breezy Bowl tour, slated to kick off merely days after his next court hearing.
However, the court has denied him bail, meaning he will remain behind bars until at least June 13. This complicates his plans since the tour is supposed to start on June 15. His team has yet to make any public comments on the potential impact on the tour.
The arrest is tied to a 2023 incident at London’s Tape nightclub, where it’s alleged Brown assaulted music producer Abe Diaw. The confrontation reportedly involved a tequila bottle, leading to charges that Brown inflicted severe injuries and even stomped on Diaw’s head.
Law enforcement says the incident, captured on CCTV, is very concerning. Additionally, Diaw has accused Brown of spreading false rumors post-incident. It’s unclear if these matters have been quietly resolved or are still ongoing.
This is not Brown’s first legal trouble. He was previously barred from entering the UK following his conviction for an assault on Rihanna. This ban lasted over a decade until rescinded in 2020 by then-Home Secretary Priti Patel.
The unfolding legal drama raises questions about Chris Brown’s future, both personally and professionally. With pressing legal matters and a tour on the line, it remains to be seen how these issues will resolve. Meanwhile, Beckham’s vocal support adds another layer to this unfolding story.
