Lizzo Slammed Trolls After Viral Fat Joke Crosses Line

BOMBSHELL: Lizzo Slammed Trolls After Viral Fat Joke Crosses The Line

Lizzo had a clear message for body shamers after a nasty fat joke about her went viral: back off. The superstar singer took to Instagram and wrote, “Your body will never be good enough for them because it’s not FOR them. It’s for you,” and added a cheeky, “I stays living with a paid off mortgage in yall b*tches heads.” This comes after Lizzo recently got real about her mental health struggles in a Substack essay, revealing she was suicidal after a lawsuit from former dancers.

The lawsuit and an onslaught of online hate caused her to withdraw from close relationships. This is nothing new for Lizzo, who’s faced public scrutiny about her body before. In 2023, she hit back at a tweet mocking her weight, saying the constant judgment made her “hate the world” and even think about quitting music. In 2021, she was hit with racist and body-shaming comments after dropping her single “Rumors” with Cardi B, which got so bad that Facebook and Instagram had to take down some posts.

Cardi B was quick to defend Lizzo, calling the body shaming and racist remarks mean and disgusting. Lizzo has been open about her health journey, which includes losing 16% body fat through Pilates and dietary changes. But even then, she’s been criticized for being “too big” or accused of betraying body positivity by losing weight. In her Substack post, Lizzo clarified that her weight loss was about healing, not trying to fit beauty standards. Despite all the negativity, Lizzo continues to promote body acceptance and asserts that her health choices are hers to make.
