A group of Louisiana Republicans is calling for changes to the Super Bowl halftime show. They believe past shows have “violated community decency standards.”

The legislators criticized Jennifer Lopez’s performance in 2020, citing minimal clothing and provocative dance moves on a pole. It led to many complaints to the FCC.

The letter also recalled Janet Jackson’s infamous 2004 wardrobe malfunction. It resulted in a massive fine for CBS and was considered a breach of Louisiana’s obscenity laws.

Rihanna’s 2023 performance attracted criticism for her self-touching and lyrics deemed inappropriate by the legislators. They refused to repeat the lyrics in their letter due to offensiveness.

Kendrick Lamar, set to perform this year, has been urged to deliver a family-friendly show. Rihanna has praised Lamar, calling his talent undeniable.

As the spotlight turns to this year’s Super Bowl, tensions rise over a call for decency in the halftime show.
