Cam’ron has his own reasons for skipping JAY-Z’s famous Roc Nation brunches held during Grammy weekend. It’s not just about rubbing shoulders with celebs for him.
On a recent episode of his show, ‘Talk With Flee,’ Cam’ron discussed why he avoids these high-profile gatherings. He touched on Gillie Da Kid’s comments about such events being filled with ‘fake’ people who he felt were there to boost their own status using others’ fame.
Cam’ron clarified that his reasons differ but align with some views. “I’ve done records with JAY-Z and was even signed to his label. There’s no thrill for me to be in his presence or among others in that circle,” he expressed.
The lack of a genuine social atmosphere seems to be a significant factor for Cam’ron. He jokingly mentioned that the brunches lack a lively company and are more of a photo opportunity rather than meaningful social interactions. “Why go hang with people I’ve seen numerous times and have nothing new to discuss?” he questioned.
He did acknowledge the benefits such events could bring for younger artists, considering them great networking opportunities. However, Cam’ron emphasized that he never had a personal connection with JAY-Z that would warrant attending the brunch purely for personal gains.
Adding a humorous twist, he quipped about not having the chance to ‘bag Rihanna,’ preferring his local brunches in Harlem. “Rihanna wouldn’t leave with me from there, especially not in front of everyone,” he joked, respecting her current relationship with A$AP Rocky.
Meanwhile, Cam’ron’s focus seems to be shifting towards the big screen. He’s slated to make a cameo in the upcoming Adam Sandler movie, ‘Happy Gilmore 2.’ Cam’ron shared his excitement on Instagram, saying his whole team would be in the film, adding another facet to his diverse career.
The movie will feature other stars like Kid Cudi, who will star alongside Sandler. Cam’ron and Eminem are expected to make brief appearances, adding to the film’s hype.
Cam’ron’s choice to skip JAY-Z’s brunches isn’t about animosity but rather personal preference. He’s choosing local connections over celebrity circles, focusing on meaningful interactions, and exploring new ventures like film.
