The world of hip hop heated up as Logic responded to accusations of song theft from fellow rapper Maxo Kream.
It all began when Maxo Kream took to social media, accusing Logic of lifting a track from his song “Meet Again”. The Houston rapper pointed fingers at Logic’s new track “700 Club,” voicing his frustration on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Maxo’s outcry was echoed by Mike Dean, co-producer of “Meet Again,” who demanded compensation in an Instagram comment. This drama unfolded after a live stream by FaZe Adapt showed Logic previewing songs from his forthcoming album, “Side Quest”, which Maxo claimed was suspiciously familiar.
Logic, baffled by these allegations, addressed the issue in an Instagram video. ‘I don’t be on the internet,’ he explained, stating he’d never heard of Maxo Kream before. He discovered the issue only when a friend alerted him to the accusations making rounds on social media.
Dismissing the claims, Logic defended himself by clarifying the song’s origin. He claimed that he’d created “700 Club” from scratch during a live Twitch stream, where his producer, 6ix, sent him a fresh beat. He further noted that the sample in question had been used many times before, including by legendary rapper Nas.
Despite the heat, Logic extended an olive branch to Maxo, expressing admiration for his music. He suggested they could potentially collaborate, emphasizing his respect for other hip hop artists and his love for the genre.
As of now, Maxo Kream hasn’t publicly reacted to Logic’s video response. The hip hop community waits to see if these two artists can resolve their differences peacefully.
Even amid controversies, it’s clear that mutual respect persists between the artists. Whether this leads to a collaboration or not, fans are tuned in to see how this musical face-off unfolds.
