After an electrifying Super Bowl halftime appearance, Kendrick Lamar’s streaming numbers are through the roof.
In the aftermath of Kendrick Lamar’s stunning show at the Super Bowl LIX halftime, his music streams have seen a dramatic rise. Notably, his track “Not Like Us,” which includes a diss aimed at Drake, saw a whopping increase of 430 percent on Spotify soon after the event.
Kendrick’s entire performance set was met with enthusiasm, leading to a 175 percent rise in streams for his performed songs. Meanwhile, SZA, who shared the stage with him, also experienced a boost, with her songs climbing 80 percent after their dynamic performances together.
On Apple Music, Kendrick enjoyed a sweep with the top five tracks the following day, and his album ‘GNX’ made its way back to the number one spot. Clearly, the show struck a chord with fans across digital platforms.
The explosive performance included a clever nod to his ongoing feud with Drake. Midway through, Kendrick playfully teased both his rival and the audience, referencing legal drama with a cheeky line about lawsuits and fan favorites.
During the set, Kendrick self-censored a provocative line but made sure to deliver his message with a sarcastic smirk, aimed directly at Drake. The lyrics about a ‘certified pedophile’ were altered, yet the message remained loud and clear.
Adding a surprising twist, former tennis ace and Drake’s ex, Serena Williams, made a cameo while dancing energetically as the hit “Not Like Us” transitioned into the final track of Kendrick’s set.
Kendrick wasn’t alone in this showstopper. Joining him were SZA and Samuel L. Jackson. The legendary actor dressed as Uncle Sam narrated parts of the show, adding to the theatrical flair.
The Super Bowl performance captivated over 120 million viewers, coinciding with a thrilling football showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. However, while the Eagles soared to an unexpected victory, it was Kendrick’s performance that truly stole the show.
In addition to these highlights, music producer Mustard also joined in, amplifying the excitement during the climactic performance of “TV Off.”
Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl performance not only dazzled audiences but also skyrocketed his music’s popularity, reaffirming his impact and artistry.
