Kendrick Lamar appears to be working on a new album, and Terrace Martin has continued to fuel excitement for it.
Los Angeles-based producer Terrace Martin went live on Instagram on June 4th, sharing his enthusiasm for Kendrick Lamar’s next project. When a fan commented that the ‘West Coast is about to return to the Mecca of Hip Hop,’ Martin responded confidently, ‘We always been the Mecca, bro. We take a little break sometimes. We gotta take breaks to let the other people have a little bit. We back, though.’
Martin didn’t just hype Kendrick’s upcoming album; he also expressed his excitement for future releases from YG, Mustard, and Roddy Ricch. ‘Aye, let me tell y’all the records I’m excited for. I’m excited for YG’s album, I’m excited for Mustard’s album. I’m excited for a lot of people, but there’s two albums I’m going crazy for. I can’t wait ’til they drop,’ he said. ‘Roddy Ricch album and whenever Kendrick drops his album, I’m excited for those two. Those two Compton artists, I’m excited. So much shit bubbling, you know?’
Terrace Martin has been a key figure in Kendrick’s music, producing significant tracks like ‘Loyalty’ from ‘DAMN.,’ five songs on ‘To Pimp a Butterfly’ including ‘King Kunta,’ and ‘m.A.A.d city’ from ‘good kid, m.A.A.d city.’ Recently, Martin shared that he’s been working closely with Roddy Ricch and Kendrick on new material. On X (formerly Twitter), he revealed, ‘I’ve been locked in with Roddy Ricch creating something special. The Navy album.’ When a fan asked who’s ‘locked in with Dot now,’ Martin simply replied, ‘All of us.’
Roddy Ricch recently dropped ‘Survivor’s Remorse,’ the lead single from his forthcoming album. During a recent episode of HipHopDX’s The Bigger Picture, DJ Hed praised Roddy’s new project and noted his collaboration with some of Kendrick’s known associates. ‘There’s more intention on [this] record. It’s a cohesive effort,’ he said. DJ Hed also emphasized Roddy’s growth, ‘And then sidebar: he’s grown as a man. He’s living real life.’
The excitement surrounding Kendrick Lamar’s upcoming album is evident, with Terrace Martin’s enthusiastic endorsements adding fuel to the anticipation. With significant collaborations in the works and a promising lineup of West Coast releases, fans have plenty to look forward to.
