Cam’ron believes the 2005 shooting that wounded him was sparked by a line from the 2002 film ‘Paid in Full.’

Cam’ron was caught in a terrifying moment on October 23, 2005, when he was shot in Washington, D.C. during a failed carjacking. Despite being hit in both arms, he managed to drive his Lamborghini to Howard University Hospital for treatment.

The rapper’s troubles, he claims, stemmed from a line he delivered as Rico in ‘Paid in Full.’ Cam’ron said the controversial line was something to the effect of, “I’ll give you some n-ggas from D.C. but not no Harlem n-ggas.”

Cam’ron’s attempt to resist saying the line was overruled, leaving him to comply. Four years later, he believes it led to that fateful night in D.C.

Dame Dash, a producer of ‘Paid in Full,’ has also spoken about the incident. He shared that Cam’ron had expressed concern over the script after being asked to perform in another role, citing the shooting as the reason.

Dash reflected on the gravity of the situation and his own role in the events. He noted that stories like these have to be handled with care due to the real-life implications and emotions involved.

While Dame Dash has plans for a sequel to ‘Paid in Full,’ it remains unrealized. The shooting incident seems to loom over both the project and Cam’ron’s past.

Cam’ron’s tale serves as a reminder of how fiction can have unexpected real-world repercussions, blurring the lines between storytelling and reality.
