2 Chainz has finally shared his thoughts on being mentioned by Kendrick Lamar in the hit track “Not Like Us,” which took a jab at Drake.

In a catchy verse on the track produced by Mustard, Kendrick Lamar rapped, “2 Chainz said you good, but he lied.” Despite the seemingly pointed line, 2 Chainz wasn’t fazed.

While on The Breakfast Club promoting his new collab album, ‘Life Is Beautiful,’ with The Alchemist and Larry June, 2 Chainz explained to Charlamagne Tha God that he took the line as clever wordplay.

“I just think it was kinda some wordplay because Drake and I got a song called ‘No Lie,’” 2 Chainz clarified. He didn’t interpret it as an insult.

Despite some expectations that he might respond to Kendrick, 2 Chainz emphasized he felt it was more about Atlanta artists and didn’t take it personally.

“I was okay with it,” he continued. “Some people didn’t want their name in it, some people were like, why didn’t he say my name? It was nothing.”

In other news, 2 Chainz recently announced he is no longer with Def Jam Records. The rap star ended his decade-long relationship with the label back in October.

He declared his independence with a playful basketball video set in Abu Dhabi, where he practiced his shots and compared his decision to those made by NBA icons LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

“I am now an independent artist,” he announced proudly, not re-signing with Def Jam. “So think of it like KD or LeBron — the biggest free agent in the game.”

His departure from Def Jam marks the end of a successful partnership that began in 2012 with his debut album, ‘Based on a T.R.U. Story’, which topped the charts.

Before Def Jam, 2 Chainz was part of the duo Playaz Circle under Ludacris’ Disturbing Tha Peace, back when he was known as Tity Boi.

Over the years, 2 Chainz has released successful solo albums and joint projects, becoming a staple in the hip-hop industry.

2 Chainz has shown a laid-back attitude towards Kendrick’s mention, turning the spotlight on his journey in music, especially his new journey as an independent artist.
