Marvel’s Phase 4 is in full swing after a long sabbatical that disturbed the entire world. Several delays later, the 26th Marvel Cinematic Universe movie is finally coming out in November and we’re all excited!

The second half of the year is definitely packed with much-anticipated Marvel movies — from Black Widow to Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings that are followed by The Eternals and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

We will be witnessing the alien superteam movie for the first time on the big screens; initially halted because of the pandemic. The delays were of course to ensure the safety of the fans of the Marvel Universe; hence, worth the wait. If you are superheros fan and confused between superman vs captain marvel, you should watch this movie.

You may already know that the final trailer of The Eternals dropped in August which gave us many goosebumps stuffed with excitement. We got the chance to meet the antagonists of the story, the Deviants.

Although the story seems unique, it is actually the director who has helmed the movie that has all our attention. Chloe Zhao is honestly the director of the hour — she won a couple of Oscars at the prestigious Academy Awards for her movie Nomadland. The movie slated for a November 5 theatrical release is written by Mathew and Ryan Firpo.

Note: Before we delve into everything you need to know about Marvel’s Eternals, make sure to brush up on the order of MCU movies, though.

Who Are The Eternals?

The Eternals are the next group of people with exceptional powers who have joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe after The Avengers. The cast of The Eternals is something that everybody is looking forward to because the line up is remarkable! From Angelina Jolie to Salma Hayek and Kumail Nanjiani to Kit Harington and Gemma Chan and many more! It wouldn’t be wrong to suggest that the expectations are already going off the roof.

What is the Synopsis of The Eternals?

The official synopsis of the movie is being described as a story of ancient aliens “who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years.”

It is further revealed that the story is based after the final installments of the Avengers Movies.

“Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected tragedy forces them out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s most ancient enemy, The Deviants.”

Will The Eternals Release Simultaneously on Disney Plus?

The success of Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings ended up giving hope to the producers by their incredible performance at the Box Office. This encouraged them to release The Eternals in theatres 45 days prior to the digital launch.

Who Are the New Marvel Heroes?

As we said earlier, the new marvel lineup is star-studded and extremely promising. We have Angelina Jolie as Thena; a fierce warrior. She is joined by Richard Madden and Gemma Chan who are all powerful and loving towards humankind; Ikaris and Kingo. We also have Kit Harrington as Dane Whitman, probably the only human in the league of superheroes.

There is also Barry Keoghan, playing the character of the loner Druig and Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, a cosmic-powered wolverine. The cast also includes Salma Hayek; her character is known as Ajak and she is portraying the role of a wise and spiritual leader. Lauren Ridloff is playing Makkari and Brian Tyree Henry will be seen as an intelligent inventor Phastos. Finally, there is also Done Lee who is essaying the role of the powerful Gilgamesh.

The characters are, of course, described according to the official synopsis provided by Marvel. As per the description, Dane Whitman is less interesting which is why there’s less hype around the character. However, in the comics, he is someone who ended up becoming Black Knight, the sword-wielding hero — so we might expect the unexpected in future.

The Eternals ended up giving the Game of Throne fans a much-needed reunion of Harrington and Madden. They both played Jon Snow and Robb Star in the popular series.

Salma Hayek said in one of her interviews that she never thought of joining the Marvel franchise and so when the opportunity fell in her lap she was shocked. She was amongst the first few people to be cast in the movie.

The upcoming Marvel movie also has Gemma Chan — we met her briefly as Minn-Erva in Captain Marvel — but the character of Sersi is quite different from her last venture in the MCU.

In an interview with Vogue, she gave a brief introduction to the new role:

Sersi is not your typical superhero: She’s not necessarily the best fighter, she doesn’t have the most obviously impressive powers. The main thing is she’s an empath. She has a connection with humans, and with the world and the earth. That is her strength, so I leant into that.”

When asked how her experience was different from working on The Eternals, she said that this time around she had more studio work. Apart from that, she also got exposed to working in natural and real environments. The movie was shot in Canary Island and England.

Nanjiani also had his own journey; a major physical transformation!

“I would not have been able to do this if I didn’t have a full year with the best trainers and nutritionists paid for by the biggest studio in the world. I’m glad I look like this, but I also understand why I never did before. It would have been impossible without these resources and time.” — he wrote a heartwarming caption showing gratitude to his trainers.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, directors of Avengers: Endgame, his character made an appearance in Parking Spot, a Lexus promo which is set in the MCU.

The most exciting new related to The Eternal is the fact that it will first time showcase an openly gay superhero in the MCU. In addition, you will also get to see MCU’s first ever deaf superhero.

History of The Eternals in the Comics

The history of The Eternals can be traced back to 1976. Jack Kirby was the one who envisioned it; co-creator of the Avengers, X-Men and the Fantastic Four series. Before he created the Eternals, he had also given New Gods to the DCU.

The Eternals are quite evolutionary — they live under the shadows to hide their abilities. They also have longer lifespans. They were created by the Celestials to protect Earth when needed. Fans of the Guardians of the Galaxy series might already be aware of the Celestials. Knowhere is their space station.

Here’s a fun trivia: Ego, Peter Quill’s father, is also a Celestial in the human form. You met him in the second Guardians of the Galaxy film.

In Conclusion

We’re all pumped up to watch The Eternals in theatres; the only way to explain that experience would be like going back to the future.

Anyway, do support the movie, releasing on the 5th of November, but take all recommended precautions and follow the SoPs, because you also want to ensure you stay safe while having a hell of a time watching your favorite Marvel superheroes in action!
