1) Talk to me about the making of your latest project. What was the inspiration behind it?

Da Home of Da Brave project is real authentic and personal. The inspiration behind it was the bible verse Genesis 3:9. Adam hid from God and God had asked him ‘’Where are you?’’

When God asked the question it wasn’t as if God didn’t know where Adam was but he wanted Adam to admit where he was. In these previous seasons in my life God has been asking me ‘’Where are you”?

On this project you will hear me express myself with honesty and transparency. You will hear where I’ve been, where I’m at, and where I’m going. #dahomeofdabrave

2) With the music industry tanking and record sales falling, how do you envision yourself earning a living as an independent hip-hop artist?

The one thing I have to realize is that if you don’t have a fan base and supporters it’s very hard to get heard. My prayers are that I gain an audience that will embrace my music for what it is. I’m not looking for hand-outs.

I’m just looking to make good art that can reach the generation. If people rock with your music they are going to support you. So by faith I know the Lord is going to provide for me as an independent artist. I just have to be willing to grind.

3) From a business point of view, which artists in the game do you think are really pushing the boundaries and changing it up?

Man it’s so many but one that comes to mind is Dee-1. He’s an artist that doesn’t just have music but a movement. When you have a movement and supporters behind you, the industry can’t ignore you.

He doesn’t glorify degrading woman, gun play, or drugs in his music. He’s something new to the hip-hop community right now and the people are hungry for an artist like Dee-1.

4) What business lessons have you learnt from the music industry so far?

Well my major here at Bethel University is Music Industries/Audio Production. I’m learning about marketing, copyrighting, and all the areas of the business aspect of music.

But I see that if you don’t know your lane the industry will try to change you up. I know my calling and I will not compromise to please the world. I’m here to generate hope, and inspiration to this generation

5) What do you love about hip-hop music?

What I like about hip-hop is that you can express yourself. Everybody has a perspective about something. I grew up on hip-hop and it was a part of my culture.

6) What still surprises you about hip-hop?

I’m surprised about the content of the music. There’s not any substance it’s just chants and words that are brainwashing our youth.

7) If you had the power to change one thing about the hip-hop industry to help independent artists – what would it be?

I wouldn’t change anything because no one is going to give you a deal just because you want one. You have to grind and be faithful to your craft. But I thank you guys for reaching out to me this is a grand opportunity to get my art out to the world.

8) Who do you think are top 3 rappers doing it at the moment?

It’s a lot man but the three that come to mind is Lecrae, Andy Mineo, and Kendrick Lamar.

9) So what are your plans for the future?

My future plans are to graduate college and still continue to make and produce music. I also look forward to going full time in ministry. I look forward to touring and doing a lot of traveling. Also look forward to releasing my book.
