Hip-hop heads, did you know that Tupac’s gun metaphor track, “Me and My Girlfriend,” off The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory was inspired by the Nas classic “I Gave You Power” from It Was Written?
According to Outlawz crew member, Young Noble, after Tupac heard “I Gave You Power,” he was inspired by Nas personifying a gun in the song and decided to create his own version.
Ironically, Pac would go on to diss Nas on the same album; sending numerous shots at the Queensbridge rapper, particularly on “Against All Odds.”
