Hip-hop heads, did you know that Pusha T’s original verse for “I Don’t Like (Remix)” was actually 16 bars long but Kanye cut it down?

In an interview with A Tribe Called Quest’s Ali Shaheed Muhammad and NPR’s Frannie Kelley, the GOOD Music spitter revealed that Kanye had edited the verse to reduce the street-heavy metaphors and maximise the impact.

Pusha T: Even with the “I Don’t Like” verse. That verse is really 16 bars long. I think he edited it down to maybe eight or 10 bars. Ye — his edit is the one that everybody’s singing in the clubs for the whole summer. I look at him and I say, “You’re thinking for the betterment of the song.”

Even though I love Pusha’s extended verse, you can’t deny that the edited version hits harder and gets people going. Check out Pusha T’s full “I Don’t Like (Remix)” verse below:
