As an independent hip-hop artist, you need to get all the help that you can to bring yourself exposure. Without a manager annoying everyone who’ll listen to him about your music, you’ll need to go out there and do it all yourself – but, in return, you get to keep everything.

With Google Play, you get to advertise your music on their app-store of which there are literally thousands of tunes to pick from. You can check out the Google Play indie hip-hop section here – just look how many people are there, making money for their work.

There are so many different artists on here it really does give you so much control over how you will do – being able to manage an account on such a massive platform is a huge benefit.

You’ll likely never become the #1 seller give your vast competition – some of them massive names in the industry, of course – but you can get enough sales to really make it more than worthwhile giving it a try.

Run through the New Releases section and see how many names you don’t recognize, but are getting a fair amount of sales already – is this not exactly the idea situation for an independent hip-hop artist?

Now, signing up for Google Play is much easier than you might have imagined. You don’t need some earnings threshold or some ridiculous tattoo to get in here – you just need to sign up for an account here.

After setting it up, you’ll be able to stream and sell your music to millions of people across the world – you’ll be able to choose how far your music goes, and how it will be distributed.

Sales are obviously a massive necessity to make Google Play truly successful, and it’s all about making sure that you have the right style and format to your page. As a hip-hop artist, you should be looking into the other names out there who are doing well for themselves – what makes them stand out from the crowd?

Use the success of others as a guide to help you set the tone of your Play profile.

Basically, you get control over just about everything – and now you can open up yourself to an incredible amount of activity and attention.

You might take a while to get the sales, but even just being able to hear your music on a preview can be enough to spawn a new fan that’ll spread your name and come to your shows – that’s exactly what you can use this for.
