Hip-hop heads, did you know that “I Can,” the second single off God’s Son, is Nas’ highest charting single to date?

Produced by longtime collaborator, Salaam Remi, “I Can” features the classic Honey Drippers’ “Impeach the President” breakbeat, a sample of Beethoven’s “Für Elise” and Nas’ inspirational rhymes for the kids.

It’s definitely not amongst my favourite Nas’ songs but you can’t deny “I Can” can be catchy as hell and judging by its chart performance – the song peaked at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100, #7 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks and #6 on the Hot Rap Tracks – the public loved it.
